Position Paper

Dear delegates,
“International Criminal Court” is an organization where individuals are prosecuted on behalf of crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Cooperation of the International community is that the world comes together and protects victims of human trafficking, terrorism and corruption of the society causing misplaced people. International Crime Control System is a plan made to combat any international criminal or follower, and to protect the victims of any of these actions that they have caused.

Colombia’s position on this topic International Cooperation in Prosecuting Crimes is that Colombia will definitely cooperate since Colombia’s security reputation in the past has not gone so well due to the fact of the war on the organized crime organization. The Colombia has passed a bill where they will support and cooperate with the ICC and sentence a person committing a crime to prison depending on their violation on any of the three points that the ICC defends and prosecutes criminals. (International Criminal Court Bill, 2001). Colombia has made effort in helping the ICC by donating money.

Colombia will contribute their time and effort in stopping criminals. Solutions that Colombia proposes for the international community is to come together with all delegates that wish to be part in an offensive effort to bring to justice these international criminals and receive many ideas to stop these criminals and receive the consequences of their actions. Another solution is to increase military enforcement to countries who receive a fair amount of cases to increase the progress in finding any international criminal. The delegate of Colombia recommends that countries come together to pursue these criminals and bring them to justice for a better tomorrow in the world.

What did you learn from MUN, and how can you apply that in your life?

What i learned from model united nations class was the process in which people debate about a certain topic that influences nations from around the world. Its impressive how the debating system works; how every student is assigned a nation or country an expresses their nations perspective towards the topic, as well as the rest of the of the nations debating about the topic.
Its pleasant to see how you can spend hours debating just to come to an agreement or a successful resolution paper.
Model U.N can help me get involved in current issue around the world and being globally competent and help me debate on certain issues around the world. Model U.N can also help me be aware of my community and possibly encourage me to come up wit a solution on any issue.

reflection

In the beginning of the year i wasn't really good at writing. i would always try to just fill in the page so i can get the essay over with. i always tend to slack off in class leaving class work for "homework" which later i would never even get it out from my backpack, thus leading me not turning it in. i would get short time inspired for like a few days and would start turning in work and the next week i would start slacking off again. What really kept me from failing English was the soccer team. In order to play you had to be passing ALL your classes and had good conduct. My mistake was always being satisfied with just passing the class wit a C but in 2nd semester i"d say that i sort of pushed myself a little i might have not moved up from my recent grade which was a C but i tried to at least bring it up to a few points extra.

What i plan to do nest year is apply for scholarships, get involved in any organizations so it can look good in my college application an study more and pay more attention in class and stop procrastinating and go to prom.

Second Semester Essay (capital pushment)

Capital Punishment is inhumane; it is not our duty, to decide whether or not to end someone’s life. Capital Punishment also goes against human rights. The death penalty has been known to exist for many years, from the renaissance era to the present world today. The death penalty is also known for its harsh executions, for example: in medieval times the accused would get beheaded in front of the public. In present era they now use hanging or lethal injection. Sometimes these executions don’t go as planned; they inflict pain to the victim thus leading the victim to go over a time of immense  pain.
Capital punishment proves to be a surprisingly costly, cruel and ineffectively a counterproductive manner system of punishment. Capital Punishment proves to be more expensive than keeping the prisoner in a prison for life. If we stay in the “an eye for an eye” mentality it portrays an endless cycle of violence. It is possible that capital punishment can also lead to a gateway to legalizing more governments systems of punishments towards prisoners that are being punishes by sending them to death row.
Capital punishment should be abolished, it is cruel and goes against our human rights it makes us appear as guilty as the victim that got executed for murder. Yes, it can be possible that capital punishment can clear prison cells and possible to make more space and stop overcrowding in penitentiary prisons. But we lose more than what we gain, the U.S also goes by the human rights act and the human rights act states that no one should take someone’s else’s life.
So it is because of the high cost and the fact that capital punishment violates the very same principles we stand on that we should abolish it. It makes us la hypocritical country to promote liberty and freedom and turn right around and take someone’s life while it makes us an ineffective country when we waste so much money on a capital punishment system that consumes our money almost as much as it consumes innocent lives.

Semester One Essay (this i believe)

Spending time
I believe that you should spend more time with the ones you love, because you never know when God is going to call them home. I had this friend that I met in 6th grade when I was attending Paul Revere Middle School. He was a real good friend to the point he was my best friend. He went to school with me all three years of middle school; we would play soccer together with other friends. We would also hang out at our apartment complex that we lived in; we would go to parties and overall just spend time together and with friends.
After middle school we went our separate ways. He moved out from the apartment complex and so did I. We started to see less and less of each other, we lost contact with each other, we stopped hanging out and we rarely ever talked. He became a mystery and I found that I knew less of him as time went on, people change over time and when you don’t change with them, the changes seem all the more drastic.
On his birthday my friends and I decided to make him a surprise party at his house. We did, and we did a BBQ and had music, games and other fun activities like soccer. After the party everybody was saying goodbye to each other but my friend was outside taking something out of his car. Then all of a sudden, we heard gun shots outside, everyone ducked down because buckets hit the house windows. The shattering of the windows was almost as loud as the screech of an accelerating car.
We ran outside and I just saw my friend just laying there on the street besides his car with blood staining his shirt. Blood and tears soaked his shirt and his mom held him and cried, I didn’t know exactly what was going on, he was standing and laughing there one instant and in the next he was on the ground struggling to breath, struggling to live.  We called the ambiances but they got there too late, before the ambulances arrived I saw my friend close his eyes and before I realized it, he was gone.
I miss my friend; he was like a brother to me. I wish we hadn’t gone our separate ways and maybe if we would have stayed in touch, his death would never have happened. I guess sometimes you don’t know when it is someone’s time to go which is why you should spent more time with people when you still have them around.
