Second Semester Essay (capital pushment)

Capital Punishment is inhumane; it is not our duty, to decide whether or not to end someone’s life. Capital Punishment also goes against human rights. The death penalty has been known to exist for many years, from the renaissance era to the present world today. The death penalty is also known for its harsh executions, for example: in medieval times the accused would get beheaded in front of the public. In present era they now use hanging or lethal injection. Sometimes these executions don’t go as planned; they inflict pain to the victim thus leading the victim to go over a time of immense  pain.
Capital punishment proves to be a surprisingly costly, cruel and ineffectively a counterproductive manner system of punishment. Capital Punishment proves to be more expensive than keeping the prisoner in a prison for life. If we stay in the “an eye for an eye” mentality it portrays an endless cycle of violence. It is possible that capital punishment can also lead to a gateway to legalizing more governments systems of punishments towards prisoners that are being punishes by sending them to death row.
Capital punishment should be abolished, it is cruel and goes against our human rights it makes us appear as guilty as the victim that got executed for murder. Yes, it can be possible that capital punishment can clear prison cells and possible to make more space and stop overcrowding in penitentiary prisons. But we lose more than what we gain, the U.S also goes by the human rights act and the human rights act states that no one should take someone’s else’s life.
So it is because of the high cost and the fact that capital punishment violates the very same principles we stand on that we should abolish it. It makes us la hypocritical country to promote liberty and freedom and turn right around and take someone’s life while it makes us an ineffective country when we waste so much money on a capital punishment system that consumes our money almost as much as it consumes innocent lives.
